‘Zero-day’; a term I heard hikers talk about on YouTube. But mostly only when you talk about a 4000 KM hike like the big trails in America. Nonetheless, we call today our ‘zero-day’.
After a good night sleep in the Alpenrosehütte we got up at 7:30 to get breakfast. We felt better and well rested, but it was still good to do as little as possible today. During breakfast we plotted to walk up to the Berliner Hütte to check if there is room for us.
After an 162m walk upwards to the Berliner Hütte we were lucky enough there were three spots available! During the short walk up my knee didn’t feel as bad as the day before, but it wasn’t gone either. We stayed at the Berliner for the remainder of the day. Tom and Stef walked around a little bit and I gave my knee more rest.
Stef’s appetite was gone and he struggled to get motivated for the trip tomorrow. He decided that he would go down to the Breitlaner Hütte tomorrow. Tom and I would move on to the next stop: Greizer Hütte. We agreed to meetup again at Ginzling the day after.
